Claire Agius has been a translator of French, German and Spanish into English for 17 years. A qualified TFLA teacher, she has tutored languages in companies, private homes and in primary schools.
She studied French and German in Liverpool, and completed a period of study at the renowned School of Translating and Interpreting in Geneva and the Pädagogische Hochschule in Heidelberg. She keeps up with her Spanish studies on a weekly basis at the Instituto Cervantes in Manchester.
Claire established Agius Language Services (now Agius Language & Translation) in 1999 after working as an in-house translator, multilingual checker and translations manager.
Claire is a self-confessed passionate and obsessive linguist. She particularly enjoys translating literature and has a number of published children’s books to her name (German to English).
Among her other proud achievements are abseiling from the East Stand at Old Trafford, and sliding down a zip wire over the hallowed turf, which gained her much kudos with her eldest son.
When not in the office, she enjoys spending time with her nutty cocker spaniel and embarrassing her two boys.
Claire is a full member of the Chartered Institute of Linguists and the North-West Translator’s Network. You can contact her personally at claireATagiusDOTcoDOTuk
